If you live in, or within reach of, Oxford and are personally affected by smell and taste impairment please join us at this free volunteer-led meetup. Partners and friends are also most welcome to attend.
We ask that you book a ticket for each person attending and that you are mindful that there may be people present who are experiencing smell distortion. Please don’t wear strong perfumes and if bringing refreshments like coffee please use a lidded cup.
Volunteers’ Week is an annual UK-wide campaign held in the first week of June, to celebrate and recognise the contributions of all volunteers.

Thurs 4 June, 1:00 pm to 3:30/4:00 pm, University of Cambridge (up to £100 travel reimbursement)
Volunteer Roles: 2 x Volunteers required to support 30-minute slot re: “The impact of smell and taste disorders, as told by SmellTaste members”.
Requirements: Need to be comfortable speaking to a large event audience, sharing their own stories with medical and research professionals.
Support provided: Our Community Development Officer will provide clear briefing in advance.

This is the right support group for you if you are over 18 and have previously been able to smell and are now experiencing a loss or reduction in your ability to smell or taste; or if you are supporting a child or other family member / friend who is in this situation.

Parosmia is the medical term for experiencing distortions of the sense of smell. Parosmia Awareness Day was founded by Linda Frantisak, one of our SmellTaste volunteers in the USA, and aims to improve awareness and understanding of the condition.

AERD is also called Samter’s Triad. It is a chronic medical condition consisting of a combination of asthma, chronic rhinosinusitis with recurring nasal polyps, and aspirin sensitivity.
