Get involved with Anosmia Awareness Day 2024
Now in its 13th year, 27th February is Anosmia Awareness Day – an important international event set up to raise awareness of Anosmia.
SmellTaste has played a crucial part in Anosmia Awareness Day for many years, aiming to help highlight how smell and taste dysfunction is a factor in a wide range of health issues – something that doesn’t always get the recognition it needs. We are working to change this and are urging as many people as possible to use this day to raise awareness.
Over the last year we have made some significant steps forward, working with a range of organisations to help them better understand how these sensory impairments impact people’s health, wellbeing and safety. These organisations include the NHS, Parkinsons UK, Cadent Gas, the Fire and Rescue Service and the Metropolitan Police to name just a few. We are continuing to work hard to build these partnerships and more to further raise awareness of the impacts of smell and taste disorders.
This year we want to get even more people talking about their senses of smell and taste. Please get involved by helping to raise awareness, encourage research and learn more about smell and taste disorders. It’s time that society recognised the central and essential role that smell and taste play in our lives and you can help!
- Raise awareness and funds for SmellTaste: Could you dress up, or hold a bake sale? Maybe you can think of a better way to get the message across and support our community and charity. Create a fundraising page or please make a donation at https://www.justgiving.com/fifth-sense
- Look out for our social media channels for more information about Anosmia Awareness Day and please share as widely as possible. Maybe you could post about your efforts on social media and tag SmellTaste? Or maybe you’d rather jump in on one of our posts and share that with your friends and family?
Please email us at info@fifthsense.org.uk to let us know what you’re planning. We’d love to hear about it – you may even get a feature on our website and newsletter!
Keep an eye on our social media channels for more information about Anosmia Awareness Day including key information about Anosmia and the impact it has, the links with other health issues and where you can get support.
