Understanding the Impact of Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyposis on Smell and Taste

Research undertaken by the University of East Anglia in partnership with SmellTaste has highlighted the experiences of people living with Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps, how any smell and taste loss is managed and their perceptions of healthcare within and outside the UK.Â
Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a common condition with a prevalence of 10% in the UK population and is defined in adults as the presence of two or more symptoms for 12 weeks or longer that must include nasal obstruction/blockage/congestion or rhinorrhea (anterior/posterior) with or without facial pain/pressure and/or hyposmia/anosmia.
The research was based on a cross-sectional, online survey through SmellTaste channels, with an incredible 124 responses. We would like to say a big thanks to everyone who shared their experiences to help to shape this research.
